- the understanding of the mutual affects between the constellation spatial functions and the state of energy affairs at the regional level is extremely limited. We are therefore seeking candidates who are interested in doing innovative and fundamental research on principles regarding spatial arrangements, design strategies and spatial concepts, that are inspired by energy related conditions. Essential is the question how energy production and consumption can become part of or can become a regulating mechanism to spatial planning at the regional level. The candidate should be qualified in spatial planning, should have an evident interest in spatial design and energy issues, and should have excessive empathy for hypothetical constructions of possible realities in the near or distant future. This research contributes to a consortium financed by SenterNovem, as part of the EOS programme. The candidate therefore should be a team player as well.

Conditions of employment

-physical and social measures go hand in hand, when reinforcing and revitalising the urban environment. The degree in which the local resident feels committed to these measures is declining, due to a rising mobility and reduced territorial ties of citizens. Their pattern of activities and their identity is susceptible to continuous change. We are therefore seeking candidates who are capable of doing research at the neighbourhood level, focussing on the interplay between individuals, society as a whole and its crucial institutions, and aiming for developing and evaluating intervention programmes with regard to liveability. The candidate should be qualified to handle the social aspects of spatial planning, should have an evident interest in interaction between the physical and social environment, and should have substantial analytical means to cope with complex issues. This research is part of a collaboration between housing associations in
Arnhem, the Societal Top Institute for Integration and Social Resistance of the RuG and the Faculty of Spatial Sciences. The candidate therefore should be a team player as well.

Conditions of employment
